What is The Golf Letters?
The Golf Letters is a monthly subscription delivering one hand-finished letter per month for twelve months. Each letter tells a true story from golf history — a specific era, a specific player, a defining moment in the game. Every envelope also includes an original hand-painted course art print and a piece of golf memorabilia matched to that month's story. It's mail, not email. Paper, not a screen.

How much does it cost?
Monthly subscribers pay $13 per month, billed each month. Annual subscribers pay $8.50 per month, billed as a single one-time payment of $102 upfront. Both options deliver the same twelve letters. Free shipping within the U.S.; international shipping calculated at checkout.

Who is this for?

Not at all. The Golf Letters is for anyone who loves the game. Our voice skews warm and traditional — think a quiet corner of a classic clubhouse — but the stories belong to anyone who appreciates them. Many subscribers gift it to women who love golf history just as deeply.

What's the difference between monthly and annual?
The content is identical. Monthly billing gives you flexibility — you can cancel after any month. Annual billing saves you roughly 35% on the total cost and is billed as one upfront payment. If you're confident the golfer in your life will love it, annual is the better value. If you want to try a few letters first, start monthly.

Orders & Shipping

When does the first letter arrive?
Your first letter ships within 1–3 business days of your subscription being confirmed, via USPS with tracking. Delivery time depends on your location but is typically 3–7 days within the U.S. after shipping.

When are letters mailed each month?
Beginning with your second letter, we mail on or around the 15th of each month. If the 15th falls on a Sunday or federal holiday, we mail the next business day. Allow up to two weeks for U.S. delivery and up to six weeks for international delivery after the mailing date.

Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We mail to most countries worldwide. International shipping rates are calculated at checkout. Note that international delivery times vary — allow up to six weeks from the mailing date, and be aware that customs processing may add time. International subscribers are responsible for any local duties or import fees.

I'm missing a letter — what do I do?
If more than two weeks have passed since the mailing date (U.S.) or six weeks (international) and you haven't received your letter, please contact us at support@golfletters.com. If the letter was lost due to an error on our end, we'll replace it at no charge. If the address on file was incorrect, a replacement ships for $5 (U.S.) or $7 (international).

Can I change my shipping address?
Yes. Contact us at least three weeks before the next scheduled mailing date to ensure your address change is applied in time. Address changes received with less than three weeks' notice may not take effect until the following month's mailing.

Gifting

How do I gift this?
At checkout, you can enter the recipient's shipping address directly. The letters will go straight to him — or her — every month. You can also purchase the subscription to your own address and forward as you see fit, though shipping directly is simpler.

Will the recipient know it's from me?
Only if you tell them. The letters themselves are written as The Golf Letters — no gift note from you is included by default. If you'd like to include a personal message with the first mailing, note it in your order comments at checkout and we'll do our best to accommodate it.

Can I print a gift announcement?
Yes. After purchase, you can download and print a gift announcement card from your confirmation email — something the golfer in your life can hold while he waits for that first envelope to arrive.

Returns & Cancellations

What's your refund policy?
We stand behind every letter with a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. If you're not satisfied within 30 days of your first letter arriving, contact us for a full refund — no questions asked. See our full Refunds & Returns page for details on cancellations and prorated refunds.

Can I cancel?
Monthly subscribers can cancel at any time before their next billing date — you'll receive all letters paid for and won't be charged again. Annual subscribers may request a prorated refund within 60 days of purchase. After 60 days, annual subscriptions are non-refundable, though you'll continue receiving all twelve letters.

Are the stories historically accurate?
Yes — meticulously so. Every letter is researched against primary sources, historical records, and period journalism. We fact-check dates, names, and outcomes carefully. That said, letters are written in narrative form for educational and entertainment purposes; where historical sources conflict, we note the most accepted account. See our full disclaimer for more.

Will the stories repeat?
No. Each of the twelve letters in a subscription year covers a distinct era and event. We are also committed to expanding the archive — future subscription cycles will introduce new stories and new eras. The game of golf has more than twelve great stories. We intend to tell them all.
